St-Joseph

31 01 2008

“Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal, (French: Oratoire Saint-Joseph du Mont-Royal), is a Roman Catholic basilica on the northern slope of Mount Royal in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

A reliquary in the church museum contains Brother André’s heart, which he requested as a protection for the basilica. More than 2 million visitors and pilgrims visit the Oratory every year. It is located at 3800, Queen Mary Road, at Côte-des-Neiges (Côte-des-Neiges metro station).”

this shot was taken on a little trip to the oratory with my fellow photographer jasmin, this is from the main room at the top of the oratory, since the light wasn’t very strong inside, i used an exposure of 1/4 or 1/8sec at f/2,8 with some kodak 400 color

in photoshop, i worked on the pink reflections on the right side of the picture with a strong curve, i also used a cross-proccess curve at about 20%, i did the final touch with a strong high pass with an overlay at about 40%

so this would be the follow up to my other post about my trip into the wellington tunnel, even if i was pleased with my first results, controleman asked me if i would go back in with him, you see, i developped my roll before he did, so i could see the result, some of my shots that you haven’t seen were, well under-exposed, way too dark, one of those dark shots was made with controleman expositon settings, when he saw the results he knew his shots were gonna be like mine, so, we went back, that night, i only did one shot, and i think it came pretty nice. here’s the shot:

canon ae-1
fd 24mm f/2.8 @ f/8 (i think)
i think the exposure was about 1min & a half or 2mins
kodak max color 400 iso

ok, i don’t know if i’m gonna like this or if i will ever do that again but, for the french people, here is a video podcast, i’ll try to include this to my main blog when i feel like it

please leave comments if you like or don’t like the video, thanks
